The Points of Light Lantern festival seeks proposals for two art pieces. Works should embody the themes of light, water, and community connections.

Collaborative Art

Points of Light is seeking proposals for a piece of art that will come together at the event through participation of those attending.

The artist should be able to be present during the event to facilitate the activity. Additional volunteers can be made available if needed.

Sculpture

Points of Light is seeking proposals for a temporary art installation on Ecumenical Plaza for the day of the event.

This work will be installed the day of the event, and taken that evening or the next day. Volunteers will be available for both set up and take down.

We are looking for lightweight and secure sculptural works which incorporate light and achieve a height of 8 to12 feet. Power can be supplied, so inflatables are a good option, as are fabric and or bamboo scaffold structures.

Stipend & Budget

Each project is currently budgeted for approximately $500 to cover time and materials. There may be additional funds for supplies, based on fundraising which is currently underway.

Responses are requested by March 20, 2022 and may be accepted on a rolling basis.

Proposals should include a sketch of the concept, materials budget, and a brief biography of the artist. Submitting artists must also furnish photographs of completed works and list prior project partners. Completed proposals should be forwarded to Laura Scarlett Tavares at laura.s.tavares@gmail.com
