About the Opportunity
We’re inviting you to join us in the ninth annual Points of Light Cultural Celebration. This family -friendly, volunteer-led festival started as a small project celebrating our diversity, the beauty of our community, and the vitality of our art. It’s grown into a Lowell tradition that promotes development of the Acre neighborhood, brings together people from both inside and outside the city, and connects more than a thousand people annually with Lowell’s canals.
The celebration takes place on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Local organizations will fundraise by selling traditional street food and artists of all ages and backgrounds will perform through the night. Attendees will personalize floating lanterns with drawings, messages of hope, and memorials for loved ones. These lanterns are then floated on the Western Canal, creating hundreds of points of light.
As a free festival with heavily-discounted vendor fees, sponsorships are the primary way we can pay costs such as production, permits, fees, and performer and art stipends. In addition, the committee is building a sustainable fund that will help Points of Light return year after year. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $ 30,000. Would you consider a sponsorship to help us achieve this goal?
Your sponsorship will enable us to continue:
- Bringing this arts & cultural festival to the heart of the Acre
- Showcasing the diverse musical, dance, and spoken word talents of Lowellians
- Providing lanterns and supplies for decorating events at schools, community-based organizations, and at the festival
- Highlighting the beauty, culture, and history of Lowell’s canals
All gifts are handled by our fiscal agent, Coalition for a Better Acre, making them fully tax-deductible. Donations to Points of Light count towards the Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) program. If you have any questions or want to discuss other sponsorship packages, please don’t hesitate to contact planning committee chair Chris Hayes at 217.722.9516 or hello@pointsoflightlowell.com.
